Too many people are isolated and fearful. Together, we can change this.
* Get to Know Your Neighbors
* Honor Elders
* Focus on Ability, not Disability
* Share What You Have
* Plant Flowers
* Sing Together
* Start a Tradition
* Celebrate Our Differences
* Bake/Cook Extra and Share
* Ask for Help When You Need it
* Visit the Park
* Learn Something New Every Day
* Organize a Block Party
* Turn off the TV
* Turn on Your Imagination
* Use Your Library
* Have a Potluck
* Hold a Bake Sale
* Appreciate Democracy and Vote
* Buy from Local Merchants
* Ask More Questions
* Barter Your Skills
* Fix Something
* Pick Up Litter
* Dance in the Street
* Seek to UnderStand (Stand Under)
* Live More Simply
* Believe Change is Possible
Know that No One is Silent Though Many Are Not Heard.
* Work to Change This *
A Huge Thank YOU to The Syracuse Cultural Workers for "How to Build Community"
Will you, my friends, help me Add to this List? Your suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated!

Help

*Share your vegetables with the neighbors or put a box out on the road of free cucumbers or lettuce or whatever you have.
* Invite the neighbors (whom you really don't know) for tea or coffee.
* Ask lots of questions. People have a lot of wisdom, and you just need to get them talking and then you learn a very lot.
Walk around your neighborhood
Call neighbors over to your parties
Feed the neighborhood cat!

Nishtha, I love this idea and have mentioned your blog at Gaia Networking and on my status!
Thanks for this list and everyone's contributions!
* Give direct but also second-hand compliments: Compliment person A to person B. Especially if Person A is listening, but even if not. Word gets around. A compliment to you that you hear reported by someone who heard it, is far more happy-making than even a direct compliment.
* Also, of course, be sure to pass along compliments you hear!! Positive gossip is REALLY wonderful !!!!!!!
* Create a neighborhood project that neighbors can do only together, by cooperating. And all the better if it beautifies the area or helps the local environment.
* Encourage your neighbors to keep extra food and water onhand for emergencies, and share emergency preparation info you have.
Blessings, OM Bastet
Thank you dear ones for adding to this list!
I am looking forward to practicing/exercising many of these great suggestions.
:-)
Excellent - thank you so much, Nishtha, and everyone else. I'm printing this out and will be in action on each point, and invite people in our neighborhood to follow suit. Nobody needs to be alone - not especially if you live next door! Co- creating neighborhood projects is so rewarding - we did one last year - collecting surplus winter clothes for those in need, and people haven't forgotten the high of being One in a purpose that they believe in. This month, I'm going to suggest collecting food for hungry children - there are millions in this country, but we can feed at least 100 people a week by the end of December!
